Why did you choose this particular project? 


we picked this project because we thought it would enhance our hands on learning. We wanted to learn more by doing hands on things because we missed out on that type of learning this year. so far this has turned out to be a fun project that will give us a little more work that we were hoping for. Although the work load on our second car might end up being a lot we are still prepared to simply take more time out of our days. 



Introductions - what was your inspiration, who are the people you’re working with, etc. 


our inspiration for this project came from my close friend Nate. he mentioned that it might be fun to work on cars and we went from there. Nates always been into cars his whole life so this was the perfect situation for us. we quickly got a free van from some family friends and have been fixing that van recently. 



How did you pull together this particular project? 

after we received our free van this really motivated my group to get moving. we had the van detailed within a few days of buying the van. at the moment the Dmv has the vans title so once it gets register we are going to sell the van to re fund our selfs for the next project car we are buying soon. 





3 goals for your senior project (set these with your mentor) 


Learning to perform basic maintenance and cleaning


Learning how to buy and sell in a the second hand market


Teamwork in a real life situation. Or more so then school work. Problem solving in an unknown topic

    Hey Terin! That's actually quite an awesome van. I love Jake's picture by the way. It seems like you took the washing rather seriously :-) I'm glad to hear from you and your mates. When you can let me know some specifics about the van (year, mileage, issues, etc...) so I can help you find a buyer!

  Tell a story about a happy/challenging/funny/meaningful moment from the week This week we have had some good progress on our 500$ truck. we have shaved the front bumper down to fit the tires better so they dont rub. We have also started on some body work using bondo. this so far has been a great learning experience for us. the truck now runs very well with fresh gas and a good oil change. We also figured that adding fuel stabilizer would be good for the truck and so far we are in luck.  What have you learned?  we have learned that picking a new skill to practice such as body work can be hard. were having trouble getting the bondo to be super smooth. this has been good fun learning how to work the bondo and get it to bond properly!  Reflection on progress towards goals from week 1  this week I feel like we have come pretty far the truck is slowly coming together now. in the coming weeks we plan to get the truck painted yellow so its all one color. WEEK 2

  Tell a story about a happy/challenging/funny/meaningful moment from the week  This week we have taken the time to list our van up for sale. This was possible for us to do because after waiting for hours on end at the dmv as a group we got our van registered. Within 2 days (somehow) the dmv sent us back our title and now we own the van! When we received the title so fast we were all so joyful because that would allow for us to have more time in the longest part of the process selling the van.  we have learned though the van that waiting and patience is key and that's what will lead to your success. This sort of also remind us to not give up so easily. We also bought a second project car witch is a 1994 ford explorer. this car is sort of a test mule for us at the moment. we use it right now to practice on. it has a large dent in the rear door witch we are practicing filling with bondo.
